Finance Committee A Finance Committee is the only mandatory Committee in all Catholic Churches. Its main term of reference is the management of parish funds for the upkeep and development of church premises (ie: church, presbytery, hall and grounds).

In the past few years some of its major projects have been drainage and extension of car park, total overhaul and updating of church and hall lighting and electrics, a new boiler for the Hall, update of church porch and entrance doors.

All its accounts are scrutinised by an external auditor and the Diocesan Fianance Office.

Here at Holy Family we are extremely fortunate to have a keen multi-talented team with expertise in Accountancy, Building, Child Protection, Design, Education, Electrics and Communication, Fundraising, Gift Aid, Health and Safety, Architectural Planning.

In the next Parish Directory, we will be publishing a synopsis of the 2005 Finance Accounts precised from 72 facets of Finance required by the Diocese.

We are extremely grateful to every member of the committee who operate under the guidance of Fr Julian.

First Holy Communion Our catechists prepare the children for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Classes are on Thursday evening during term time.

Flowers They are arranged on a weekly rota basis for Christmas, Easter and all special occasions. The team currently has seven members but would be most encouraging to any parishioner with a flair for flower arrangement.

Fundraising Group This Group has been active in the parish for about 18 years, organising Dances, Quiz Evenings, Jumble Sales and so on. However, we are always interested in new ideas and other ways of fundraising, so new members are most welcome. Contact Eileen Graham on 020 8644 8433

Funerals Conducted for all practising parishioners. The funeral liturgy is arranged by families in consultation with the parish priest. Liturgical guidelines are available from the office or presbytery.

Funtimes Toddler Group They meet in the church hall every Tuesday from 10am until 12 noon.

G

Gift Aid Scheme If you are a taxpayer and make regular Offertory payments to Holy Family Parish, please join the Gift Aid Scheme. All you have to do is to sign a declaration form (which just says that any payments that you make are to be treated as Gift Aid donations) AND you use Gift Aid Envelopes or a Bankers Standing Order to make your payments.

You do not have to tell anyone about your income, nor commit youself to paying a set amount at any time.

Under the Gift Aid Scheme, the parish can claim back the Income Tax that you have already paid on your donation. As a result of parishioners making their usual Offertory payments via the Gift Aid Scheme, over the past 19 years, the Holy Family Parish has received nearly £87,000 in tax refunds, and last year received around £10,000. Further information from Tony Savage on 020 8643 6227 (afer midday please)

K

Knights of Saint Columba This is an organisation for practising Catholic laymen, which has branches in many countries throughout the world and is dedicated to the service of the Church and its people.

The KSC is non-political and essentially democratic. It exists to support the mission of the Church and to work for the spiritual and material good of its members and their families through Unity, Charity and Fraternity. Further information from Tony Savage on 020 86436227 (after midday please) or Mervyn Maciel on 020 8644 0848.

M

Marriages these are arranged by appointment with the parish priest. It is the policy of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales that at least 6 months notice be given, but it is quite usual for couples to see the priest one year before they plan to marry. Please take one of the marriage policy leaflets from the Church porch. Marriages are conducted for parishioners or for those who attend Holy Family Church on a regular basis.

Mass Intention Mass Stipend envelopes are available in the church porch. Completed envelopes should be delivered to the presbytery. A suggested stipend for Mass intentions is £10, but no-one should feel inhibited if they wish to offer less.

Ministers of The Eucharist They perform this duty on a rota basis at Masses. They administer the Eucharist to the sick and housebound and also hold Eucharistic Services when the parish priest is away. New ministers are always welcome. Please see the Parish Priest.

N
